Morning everyone. The brakes on my Toyota Camry are squealing loudly, and the car pulls hard to the left whenever I brake at low speeds. The pads look thick. Could it be a stuck brake caliper because of the salt mist? It parks right next to the water.

That's a classic frozen caliper slider pin. The salt atmosphere eats away the rubber dust boots, moisture gets in, and locks the pin completely. It causes uneven pad pressure, which makes the car pull to one side. Take it apart, clean the rust off the slide pins, and use a high-temperature silicone grease. If the piston itself is rusted, you'll need a whole new caliper assembly shipped in.

Make sure to check your brake rotors too. If they have thick rust scaling on the edges, it can rub against the caliper bracket and cause that loud squeal. Living close to the ocean means we have to service our brake sliders at least once a year just to keep them moving freely.
